How to Fix a Chipped Skateboard?

When you use your beginner skateboard or pro skateboard to do tricks, sometimes the wood deck may hit an obstacle and get cracked.

If the crack is huge, you’d probably be better off replacing a new board. However, if the chipped part is small, you can totally fix it on your own.

Some folks save that broken piece and glue it back on. That is, in case you find where the piece is. However, there is another way we can do this.

We’ll be using super cheap wood filler. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how!

Things You’ll Need

Which mistakes should a beginner avoid when skateboarding
  • Razor blade (or Exacto knife)
  • Blow dryer
  • Putty knife
  • Wood Filler
  • Grip tape sheet

Step 1: Removing the grip tape (the easy way)

If the crack happens to be on the top surface of your deck, you’ve got to remove the whole grip tape sheet to fix it.

If you just bought that sheet, well maybe you could use it for a couple of more days.

Trying to remove the tape by hand without any assistance would be extremely hard. You could tear the two layers apart, leaving the adhesive side still sticking on the board.
